By 2050, it's estimated there could be more plastic than fish in the ocean.

This Friday, July 25th, the Youth Advisory Climate Council (YACC) is heading to Woodstown Beach, Waterford for a coastal clean-up to coincide with the global Plastic Free July movement.

Plastic Free July raises awareness of plastic pollution and encourages people worldwide to reduce their use of single-use plastics. With over 11 million tons of plastic entering our oceans each year, events like this make a real difference—locally and globally. Microplastics have been found in 98% of marine species studied, affecting not just wildlife but the food chain we depend on.

Plastic pollution doesn’t just damage marine life—it contributes to climate change. From oil extraction to production and waste management, plastic is responsible for over 850 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually. So why not join us for this?!
